Last night I sat down to do a little crochet work… I have 4 Afghans in progress, 2 of them are almost finished… If you are like me, I love quick projects and Afghans aren’t usually in that category! Hmmm,,, I really debated on trying to finish up one of the Afghans, but I decided to start something new and something I could finish in one evening…

My friend Kathy Lashley over at Elk Studio Handcrafted Crochet Designs has been designing hats and wow are they beautiful! This time I choose her latest hat, “Hounds Tooth Hat” and to top it off it is a free pattern… Click here to get the pattern. While you are there, check out her other patterns too!

I loved this pattern and it was easy to follow and I was able to finish it in just a couple of hours! I did make some personal modifications, I added the brim and flower for a little femininity. I made it out of a nice cotton yarn for summertime too! I can’t wait to make more of these with and without the brim and flower… I think they will be a hit especially in the winter and in wool!!

So here is to Quick Projects, Hounds Tooth Hats and Flowers!

You did a fabulous job and I love the pink color! The brim and flower really add such a girly feel to the hat. I love how you took the patten and let your own creativity come alive!
Thanks Kathy! I cant wait to make some for men too!
Wow 2 hours is amazing! ! Your hat is very beautiful. It would take me at least one day and then only if I did nothing else.
Have you thought of doing some hats for the homeless and the working needy? The reason I ask is I have an organization that does just that. I am the coordinator for Oregon’s Hats for the homeless. I am one of many groups mentored by Emily’s Hats for Hope Initiative which was founded by Emily when she was only 17. There are groups in many places. This is my first year being a coordinator and I am trying to establish a group of people who are interested in assisting me by donating as much as they can. There are many ways to donate. The items that are needed are hats, gloves, scarves and blankets. They can be hand-crafted or purchased. We also accept donations of yarn, fabric and $$ in other to let local crafters to create the items. Thank you for your time. Please visit the blog site at https//keepOregonwarm.org
