Podras tener graficos del tejido no entiendo escrito el punto …Muchas gracias !

  2. So beautiful! I hope to find some time in the near future for this wonderful project!

  3. Love the color! So nice to dedicate these patterns for such a worthy cause.

  4. Very nice shawl – nice texture
    shouldn’t it say repeat rows 2 & 3 instead of 1&2?

  5. So beautiful..I LOVE your Amazing Grace Trio. 😀

  6. Hi this shawl is so pretty and I love the color! You did a great job! I saw it on oombawka design wed. link party!
    Julie

  7. This is absolutely beautiful. I’ve been looking for a prayer shawl pattern since my Sister passed away a few months ago. I’d like to give my Mother one for Mother’s Day this year.

  8. This is beautiful!! Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful piece!

  9. Hi Elena, What a lovely shawl 🙂 Thank you for linking up at Link & Share Wednesday! Rhondda

  10. Hi and thanks for sharing this pretty shawl pattern with us! I saw it on link & share wed. Julie at julieslifestyle.blogspot.com

  11. Rows 4-34, should this not be rows 4-35? A cluster stitch row is and odd number, however, seeing as row 2 is a row of SC’s, would it make sense to finish the shawl with a row of SC’s just to make the shawl even and give a neater finish to the last row.

  12. Collette Griffith

Could you tell me what the multiple of this prayer shawl is? Our Prayer shawl Ministry likes the shawls made 20″ X 60″.

  13. It’s a beautiful scarf!! I am a little confused. (I fairly knew to this.) You said that at then end of Row 3 you should have 62 shells. I keep coming up with 47 shells. What am I doing wrong? Thanks ahead of time for your help.

    • Obviously I’m frustrated because I can’t seem to write. That’s not normally me. 🙂 (I’m fairly new to this.) I’m making the shawl for a friend’s neice (16 years old) who was just diagnosed and started chemo today. I want to get this done soon so that it can hop a ride with my friend when he goes to visit her.

    • Ok, Go back to row 2 and make sure you have 62 chain 2 spaces… If you do… You will put a shell in each of those…And also make sure you had 190 Sc in row 1… If you have row 1 & 2 right… Then let me know and we will try to figure out what you are doing…

      • I went back and no, I don’t have 62 chain 2 spaces. So then I went back to the first row. I am certain that I have chained 192 because I even used stitch markers every 30 chains in case I lost track along the way. But it doesn’t make sense, does it? That’s a gigantic difference…47 vs. 62. Anymore ideas would definitely appreciated. I’m sure I’m missing something basic.

  14. Don’t worry, I’ll just work on it again. I’ll go back to the beginning and let you know how it turns out. Thanks.

  15. Ha, ha, ha! We got it figured out. I knew it was something simple. I did the Sc and the 2 chains but I was putting the next Sc in another stitch. I don’t know why I didn’t catch that. Thank you for your patience. I can’t wait to get home and work on it.

  16. Hi, I am on my second start of this shawl and for some reason the ends of the shawl seem to be shortening on one end to the left, leaning I mean and the other end is okay. What in the world am i doing wrong? I’m not new at crochet but this is really aggravating me….

    • You may not be getting your last stitch in the correct place. The biggest mistake beginners make is not starting or ending in the correct stitch… The best tip is to count your stitches and make sure each row has the right amount every time… This is good practice for seeing where your mistake may be.

For instance… Make sure when working on row 2 ( the chain 2 space row) you sc in the first stitch, Skip 2 stitches and then do your chain 2 space pattern as directed and end with a sc. On the Shell row (row 3) you always start with a DC then the shells and end with a Dc… So the first Dc and Last Dc of each Shell row always goes in the first Sc and Last Sc of the previous row… And you should always have the same amount of Shells in each row…

I hope that helps and you figure it out!

      • Thank you! It must have been something I was doing with that turn, chain 1 and then sc because after I did that my next sc, chain2, sc cluster was in the 3rd dc of the cluster on the previous row, not the middle dc of the cluster. Anyway, it’s working now and that’s all that matters. I appreciate your help so much! It’s a beautiful pattern! Thank you for offering it free of charge. This one I am making is being donated to Crochet for Cancer – Sadie Sunshine chapter!

  17. I am so excited to have found this gorgeous pattern. I am making it for a friend who was recently diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer. This is my first time making a prayer shawl and I’m not that strong of a crocheter (yet). I did the first three rows with little trouble but am a bit stuck on row #4. The pattern says to skip two stitches – where will that put my first sc, ch 2, sc group? In the middle of the first dc cluster or somewhere else? Sorry if this sounds like a silly question but I’ve looked at it and looked at it and am stumped. Thanks for sharing your pattern and your expertise.

  18. Collette Griffith

Could you please tell me what the multiple of this pattern is? We need to make our shawls 20″ X 60″

  19. I am excited to make this pattern for a family member, but I am having difficulty on the first row. I am kind of a beginner, but far enough along that I shouldn’t be having issues with this, but I don’t come up with 190 stitches after the first row. I always get 191. What is happening here?

  20. Thank you! I just worked it a little differently, and it all worked out the same. I have another question about the edging. To get 51 total sc, where should I be working these stitches? In both the dc and sc spaces, or just the double crochet. I can’t get 51 unless it is in the dc spaces only, and this doesn’t look correct.

    • It is 51 sc in the end of the rows… If you put 1 single crochet in the rows that are Sc and 2 single crochets in the rows that are double crochet that will be 51 total… There are 17 double crochet rows and 19 single crochet rows….Maybe you were putting 3 single crochets in the double crochet row…

      • For some reason, I am counting 52 sc stitches across the end, with the addition of the extra sc row 36

        • The pattern reads… for edging
Row 1: Join yarn using Sl St to one end of the prayer shawl in 1st St working across the Sc’s and Dc’s of row ends. Ch 1 Sc in same as joining. Sc evenly across for a total of 51 Sc. Turn

The pattern is calling for you to “evenly space” 51 Sc’s… When it reads this way it isnt an exact stitch pattern. So you may need to adjust it a bit to make it 51… To get the edging pattern to work out correctly you have to have 51.

          Good Luck!!

      • Thank you for the update. I appreciate it. I actually decided to try it with 53 stitches, and it flares on the side a bit. Going to pull it out and figure out which space to only do 1 sc in, probably the dc space in the middle. Thanks for this, and for your quick responses to questions. I am writing down notes as I go.

  21. Thank you for that explanation. I am working on the edging now, and it is beautiful. I have really enjoyed making this shawl!

  22. elisabeth schäfer

ich hätte gerne die anleitung, meine schwester ist vor einem jahr gestorben ,würde ihn ihr widmen. würde mich freuen wenn ich die anleitung bekommen könnte. danke

  23. I am planning on making these along with other items to donate to the 2 different cancer treatment centers that my parents went to. Thanks for the pattern!!

  24. nancy c wolfhope

would like the pattern to use for a project for church

    • You can use it for that!!! Thank you…Just share my story about my series and give them the link so they can see all the patterns : ) And if you have a group doing it… Take a picture and email it to me… I would love to see!!

  25. My sister found this Prayer Shawl pattern through an article from her church. So she requested me make it for our Mother for this Mother’s Day (since she don’t crochet). I love this Shawl and the name is just Amazing. The color is perfect and the cause is Awesome. I’m a 11 year cancer survivor so I will be making this beautiful shawl for many others. I’m in a knitting/crochet group at a local knitting shop. I love to knit and crochet. While working on my mother shawl (in pink) some of my friends already asked for a copy of your pattern. Thanks for sharing your talent and story. You are a Blessing!!

  26. I want to thank you again for the AMAZING shawl pattern. I have a question your pattern has you begin with CH 191 but when I read the comment I see where someone said it 192. Can you tell me if I have the updated copy of your pattern. I have the one say CH191. I ask because I’m making the shawl for my 86 years old mother for Mother’s Day and it’s keep growing uneven on both ends. I have counted the stitches over and over. I have crocheted for over 30 years. Help!!!

    • The current version on the website is the corrected version and yes Chain 191. In what way is it uneven… are your stitch counts 62 chain 2 spaces with a Sc on each end for rows 4 and 62 Dc Clusters with a Dc on each end for row 3??

  27. No, on row 4 sewhere I lost the SK 1 st then Sc in last st. So I’m backing some stitches out. Lol. Starting fresh. Thanks again

  28. Heather Nasiatka

I am excited to make this prayer shawl. I have done all mine triangle, It’s going to be great to have a few that are rectangle.
I have one question, Row 4: Ch1, Sc in 1st St,* Sk next Sts, (Sc, Ch 2, Sc) in next St* Repeat 61 times, Sk 1 St, Sc in last St. = 62 Ch 2 Spaces and 2 Sc, Turn…….If I am only SK 1 St then my (Sc, Ch 2, Sc) will not be in the middle of my middle Dc from the previous row. What am I doing wrong, I read about that it should be in the middle DC.
    Happy crotchet
    Heather Nasiatka

  29. I just started this shawl this morning. I got to Row 3. The beginning of the row says to Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), then start the shell repeat in the ch2 space. Should there be a dc in the ending sc from the previous row before the shell repeat starts? That way when you go back the other way with Row 4 (2), the last sc is in the top of the first chain 3. I know usually on shell patterns there is a chain and then a dc in that first stitch to make half a shell or so.

Thanks for this pattern, looking forward to finishing. I am working mine with HL I love This Yarn in Pink.

    • I hope I am reading your question right… The pattern does read to make a ch 3 in the beginning stitch as a Dc, Shells across to the end and then a Dc in the last Sc,,, I am a bit confused by your question, it seems like maybe you didnt see the last Dc in the pattern on row 3.

If that isnt what you meant, the second half of your question mentioned half shells… So what the pattern is looking like is~ Row 3, a Dc in the first stitch and last stitch with Shells going across in the middle. For row 4, a Sc in the first and last stitch and Ch 2 spaces across in the middle.. Many patterns do have Half Shells on the ends, I chose not to for a specific look.

I hope you love this shawl when you are done and thank you for making it!!!!

  30. Okay, you did read the question right in the second part of your answer. I just wasn’t sure if this was a look you were going for (more of an open space at the end of these rows). Thanks! I will continue then, and looking forward to finishing.

  31. Bonnie Marcin

I just finished the body of the shawl and it’s beautiful. I just can’t seem to understand the edging. Do I sc around the entire shawl? Is the open edging only on 1 edge? If I do 51 sc on the outer edges, how many should there be on the ends? I hope I am making myself clear. For some reason it’s just not sinking in for me. Thank you.

    • No problem, The pattern reads to join to one end of the shawl working across the ends of the rows… so this just means you only will be working on the ends of the shawl for the edging, not around. Working in the ends of the rows… (the short sides of the shawl)…

You will put the 51 Sc across the short ends… The top and bottom is already done no more finishing.

  32. So pretty! Thanks so much.

  33. Thanks so much, I have to make this one!

  34. Thanks so much, I have to make this one!

  41. I’m so excited to have found this pattern, I was looking for something different…this is easy, fast and fun. I am making this one for a very fragile lady who just had a stoke and with fall coming up I’m sure she can use one. Thank you so much Ulrike <3

  43. I spent last night looking for a prayer shawl pattern that would be ‘just right’ for a good friend who lost her hubby of 35 yhears to cancer. This one grabbed my eye and I am starting on it today. Thank you so much for the beautiful work!

  44. I love your patterns! So beautiful and easy to read and follow! I’m making dozens of Amazing Grace Blissful Beanies and Amazing Grace hats for my charity group Craft Angels. Can you tell me, is the edging intended for only 1 end? Just curious, I’m starting this today to possibly add to my charity work. I do tag you on Ravelry on my projects. I’m Ghettogypsy75.

  45. Hello

I’m going to make this shawl longer as the person is tall and the length of your shawl would not cover her hips. This is a beautiful pattern, amazing grace prayer shawl. Also that would mean the 51 stitches would not be enough so will have to adjust and add more stitches.

The colour of the shawl that I made is a rich red wine. This person I’m making the shawl favorite colors are red and black. Do you think that it would take away the appearance if I made the bottom in black?

    Thanks so much

    C

  46. I’m having difficulty with the 60 inches! Instead of the width being 15 inches and mine is 26. I want to make the shawl a little wider than your design, as this is for a taller person, so I would like it to cover her hips? How do I increase the length with out making the width keep getting wider!

    Ty

    C

    • Beatrice Ryan Designs

To increase the length you can add increments of 3 stitches in the starting chain until it is as long as you like. (the length is the longest part of the shawl) For the width (Neck to hips) you would just increase the rows you do until it is the desired width…

      Hope that helps!

  47. Thank you! I will be donating quite a few of these.

  48. You made a grandma very happy today with this pattern! Thanks and Merry Christmas!

  49. I just finished your amazing grace prayer shawl. Loved the pattern….it was so easy to follow and understand. No problems at all! I do have a question …..did you block your shawl and if so how did you do it? I too used the Lion Brand pound of love yarn. My completed project feels a little rough and I was wondering if blocking would eliminate that? I have seen several contradictory articles about blocking acrylics so thought I would ask your advice. Thank you for sharing your beautiful work!

    • Beatrice Ryan Designs

Yes,,, I do block my work. I usually use the Steam method and it does help soften it a bit too

  50. Michelle helle

I need some help please. I am starting the edging. I am a little confused do I do row 1 all the around?

  51. I just started making your Amazing Grace prayer shawl for a close friend of mine, Judi. Judi has been bravely battling ovarian cancer for the past 5 years now. However, she is now losing the battle. I wanted to make something for her to wear since she is always cold. I tried three patterns and tore them all out before finding yours. It is so easy to make and understand and I love it! I decided to do it in a beautiful teal color which is the ovarian cancer color. I can’t wait to give it to her because I know she is going to love it too. Thank you for sharing this pattern and God Bless you!

  52. Joanne McDaniel

This shawl is so pretty, so thank you for the pattern. I tried to read through all the comments to see if you answered this question for someone else. I don’t think so, so here goes: If I don’t want it to be 60inches long I can just stop when I want correct, and add the edges?—-or is there something I need to do different if I only want it to be 50 inches long plus the edging? How wide is the edging –about an inch (just 2 sc), correct? Thanks for taking time to answer this!

    • Beatrice Ryan Designs

As far as length, it is a pattern of 3 increments. So you can take 3 chains away at a time until it is the desired length. The edging along the ends you should be able to do the same as the pattern if you make the width the same.

      • Joanne McDaniel

Thank you for you timely response. I’m pretty sure I understand your answer, it makes sense, I was thinking of just bringing it around the shoulder and attaching with a button like the other shawl pattern you designed. I like this one more because it looks more feminine. My Mother-in-law is in a wheel chair and I thought this would keep the shawl clear of the wheels, but keep her shoulders warm. Thank you so much.

  53. This is a fantastic pattern. Thank you so much for posting it. I have a friend that I made a knitted shawl – in warm yellows and soft creams to keep her warm after Kemo – but she lost her battle to the Ovarian cancer 5 years ago. Her daughter gave me the shawl back. I will be passing it on to another who is going through that experience. And I do plan on making your shawls too. I am thankful that I am healthy and I want to help those with the warmth a shawl provided.

  54. Hi I’m new with crocheting your Amazing Grace Prayer Shawl You said you used Lion Brand Pound worsted/10 ply(9wpi) 1020-1500 yds. How many skeins did you buy to make the Amazing Grace Prayer Shawl ? Thank You Donna I.

    • Beatrice Ryan Designs

I believe each skein is around 1000 yards… but when you are buying it you can verify that…

  55. Billie-Marie Osterman

Thank you for sharing the pattern. I truly enjoyed making the Amazing Grace Shawl. I wanted to let you I paid it forward to a friend with cancer. It was loved and enjoyed all. Thanks again.

  56. Thank you for sharing the Amazing Grace Shawl pattern. I haven’t crocheted in about 6 yrs but this is one I am going to do!!! Again, thank you, Laura Owen

  57. I absolutely love all of your Amazing Grace designs but especially this Prayer Shawl. My Mother was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer this past March. She has already gone through the radiation and chemo for her lungs and was told there is no trace of cancer or any track indicating that the cancer has spread. However, they still want her to go for radiation treatments to her brain as a precautionary measure. I have wanted to make her this shawl from the beginning of her treatment but I injured my right hand back in December of 2014 when we were packing to move. I was getting treated in Illinois before we moved, then we moved and I had to start all over again. I did finally have surgery in January of 2016 but have been plagued with issues preventing me from crocheting since I fell. I have missed it so very much as it was my therapy and my solace from the world. I recently had another surgery to hopefully fix the problem that’s been preventing me from crocheting and living a normal life since the initial surgery. I am hoping that after therapy, I will finally be able to pick up my hook and make your Amazing Grace Prayer Shawl for my Mom before her treatments begin again. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful pattern…for so many beautiful patterns!

  58. Phyllis Morrison

I’ve made 5 rows of this shawl and it does not look like the picture? The picture had a different stitch than the first few rows. I’m confused. Perhaps you can help me understand this. I’m a long time stitcher.

  59. Phyllis Morrison

never mind. I figured it out. I was looking at it lengthwise instead of the width. Now I see it. But thanks.

  60. I can’t wait to make this beautiful shawl. One of my best friend’s friend was just diagnosed. I want to do something for her and this is just perfect. Thank you!!

  61. Thank you for your pattern.

I’m going to start making this tomorrow, can’t wait to learn new work
and hope I understood the patter.

  62. What a beautiful shawl, thank you for sharing!
Do you ever do video tutorials? I would love to give this piece a try but the pattern just confuses me (I am terrible at reading patterns) I have more time to sit down and decipher it I will certainly give it a try. But I was really hoping you would do a video tutorial.
