Amazing Grace Crochet Charity Drive… Week 4 Featured Pattern!!

Amazing Grace Crochet Charity Drive… Week 4 Featured Pattern!!

Amazing Grace Charity Drive Featured Pattern

The donations for the Amazing Grace Charity Drive are pouring in and I am so blessed to see how crocheters’ are so kind and generous!!!  If you haven’t heard about what we are doing… Click Here for the information on the charity drive and prize package…

This weeks Featured Pattern is a cozy, beautiful free pattern!  The Amazing Grace Snoodie… It is a cowl with an attached hood.  Many of you have already made this pattern,,, And I know it would also be a perfect donation or gift for someone who is suffering or recovering from cancer.

Snoodie

Amazing Grace Snoodie

When I was designing this pattern it was a cold winters day… I was thinking  about The first Winter Sandy had cancer and had lost her hair… It must be very chilly when you are use to having hair not only covering you head… But like many women, Sandy had long thick hair to cover her neck too…  I started off just to make a cowl or infinity scarf, but soon decided to make this Amazing Grace Snoodie with the attached hood for total warmth.  I hope you will love it too~

  1. This is a very lovely pattern and I’m glad to see all the enthusiasm for this Amazing Grace Charity Drive Week. I’ll admit, I do get a big jaded because so often you hear about these drives and wonder where all the gifts go. I guess I never found the place where they are distributed – though I did once see a plastic bin at the chemo center that had some winter hats. Sadly, I was having chemo during a warm spring and summer. 🙂

I renewed my efforts to crochet after my diagnosis last November but didn’t get to crochet for some of those months as chemo took a lot more out of me than I thought it would. But I’m back to it, basically an advanced beginner and ‘whipping up’ poncho style shawls/cowls to hide the remains of my breasts which are now referred to as my side boobs. LOL! All three of them.

The hooded cowl featured this week is LOVELY and despite the fact it won’t really hide a bald head (I’m still mostly bald, even after finishing chemo the middle of June!) the colors are just wonderful and reminded me of the cowl/shawl thing I’m making now.

Just wanted to comment on how nice it was for everyone to make such thoughtful gifts for Cancer victims and to offer a (perhaps) niche need for those who had mastectomies, but no reconstructive surgery. I make all kinds of ponchos that cover my chest. Yes, even in the hottest of summer I have to wear something to cover my chest – I enjoyed making a simple, lightweight cotton yarn poncho from a free pattern I got somewhere titled ‘breezy poncho’ or something. I do know something like that would be appreciated by some women.

It’s wonderful seeing all the creativity and sharing of free patterns too! I’m really appreciative of that and some day may even post my efforts somewhere – I’m horrible at trying to find a pattern but there have been some great tutorials!
