The Crochet Along will run from now through April 21, 2014. In order to qualify for the Red Heart Yarn prize package, you must complete 4 Hats or 2 larger projects like Shawls and or Blanket and mail them to Hooks of Hope.  Here are the requirements for your donation, per the Crochet for Cancer website:

  • Must be new – never worn
  • Clean – free of perfume, pet hair and smoke
  • Placed individually in clear ziplock style plastic bags
  • Soft yarn is best­ cotton, acrylic, silk, fleece or a blend is best.
  • Do not use wool or alpaca as they can irritate the scalp.
  • We accept baby, children, youth, and adult hats.
  • Please use patterns that do not have gaps or large holes.
  •  A tighter stitch is best so that it covers the scalp.
  • Be sure to wash your hands on a regular basis while making the caps.

If you would like to donate another item or something else… Here is what they will accept!!!~

  • Scarves
  • Blankets (all sizes)
  • Prayer Shawls
  • Be creative, we accept any type of gift item to give to a person fighting cancer. For
  • example, a crochet pink ribbon pin to support breast cancer awareness.
  • Yarn, Yarn, Yarn!!!
  • Gift cards to purchase yarn and supplies from the following locations:
  • Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, AC Moore Crafts, Wal­Mart, and JoAnn Fabric.

The Fabulous Prize ~ $125 Worth of Yarn From Red Heart!

In order to qualify for the Red Heart Yarn prize package ~

The Crochet-A-Long is open worldwide, but the contest is better suited to residents of the US and Canada, although anyone is welcome to mail a package to Hooks of Hope. Contest rules:
1. Complete the challenge by making at least 4 projects (or two large projects, like a blanket or shawl)
2. Mail your package to Hooks of Hope (address above)
3. Make sure your package is postmarked on or before April 28, 2014
4. All packages with that postmark will be entered into a raffle three weeks after April 28 on May 19 (to give time for all the packages to come in the mail).
5. The first package drawn will receive the grand prize from Red Heart. The 2nd through 5th packages will received handmade plarn bags with yarn goodies inside from Hooks of Hope!

I will be Hosting a CROCHET FOR CANCER Show and Tell on my Facebook page each Friday to show off what you are making and donating… Feel free to post to my Facebook Page any day and especially on Friday evenings at 5pm EST… Make sure you put the hashtag #CrochetForCancerCAL anytime you show off your work or talk about it on Social Media.. The Amazing Grace Spa Trio is the 5th Free Crochet Pattern in the Amazing Grace Series...  This series is dedicated to Breast Cancer Awareness!  Please consider donating to someone suffering or recovering from cancer with these patterns or to a Cancer Foundation!

The Amazing Grace Spa Trio is made up of 3 Cotton Crocheted Cloths in varying sizes~Perfect for a Cancer Patient!  By using quality uncolored cotton yarn, you can make a nice gift set that will be gentle for cleansing and uplifting for those who are suffering or recovering from cancer!  Of course you can also make them for personal use and gifts for friends!

Materials:

Each item takes 100-300 Yards Cotton Yarn.

Size H Crochet Hook

Scissors

Ch – Chain     Sc – Single Crochet     Dc – Double Crochet

Instructions:

Facecloth~

Chain 21

Row 1:   Turn, Sc in 2nd Ch from hook and each stitch across to end. = 20 Sc

Row 2:   Turn, Ch 1,  Sc in 1st St, Skip next Stitch, *Sc, Ch 2, Sc all in the next stitch. Skip next 2 Stitches*, Repeat * * across to the last 2 stitches. Skip stitch and Sc in the last stitch. = 6 Chain 2 Spaces and 1 Sc on each end.

Row 3: Turn, Ch 3 (Counts as DC), 3 Dc in next Ch 2 Space (Dc Cluster made). Repeat Dc Cluster in each Ch 2 space across. Dc in last stitch. = 6 Dc Clusters and 1 Dc on each end.

Row 4-11: Repeat rows 2 & 3 four more times.

Edging: Ch 1, Working along the side edge, *Sc 18 stitches evenly to corner. 3 Sc in corner.* Repeat * * around. Join with Slip Stitch to beginning. Finish off. Weave in ends.

Row 2:   Turn, Ch 1,  Sc in 1st St, Skip next Stitch, *Sc, Ch 2, Sc all in the next stitch. Skip next 2 Stitches*, Repeat * * across to the last 2 stitches. Skip stitch and Sc in the last stitch. = 8 Chain 2 Spaces and 1 Sc on each end.

Row 3: Turn, Ch 3 (Counts as DC), 3 Dc in next Ch 2 Space (Dc Cluster made). Repeat Dc Cluster in each Ch 2 space across. Dc in last stitch. = 8 Dc Clusters and 1 Dc on each end.

Row 4-15: Repeat rows 2 & 3  Six more times.

Row 2:   Turn, Ch 1,  Sc in 1st St, Skip next Stitch, *Sc, Ch 2, Sc all in the next stitch. Skip next 2 Stitches*, Repeat * * across to the last 2 stitches. Skip stitch and Sc in the last stitch. = 10 Chain 2 Spaces and 1 Sc on each end.

Row 3: Turn, Ch 3 (Counts as DC), 3 Dc in next Ch 2 Space (Dc Cluster made). Repeat Dc Cluster in each Ch 2 space across. Dc in last stitch. = 10 Dc Clusters and 1 Dc on each end.

Row 4-21: Repeat rows 2 & 3 Nine more times.
