Are you ready for Week 2 of this fun CAL? This fun Mariposa Prairie Summer Bag will be a 3 week project… Two colors of yarn, one great bag!

This fun bag is a draw string style bag, you can open easily to put items in, and you can make 1 or 2 straps by just pulling up sections of the strap to create either strap style… Pictures below

Festival of Fall Afghan Crochet Along… Week 1!!

Are you ready for a Fall Afghan? This years Festival of Fall Afghan CAL is a 10 week project and is made up of the Festival of Fall 12″ square I designed a few years ago! It is easy and whimsical and once we are done you will have a life long treasure!

This project consists of 15 Festival of Fall Squares in different color combinations. Then we will join it together and do a fun border! And… A $50 Amazon giveaway at the end! (details below).

Schedule:

  • 8/14 – Materials and Information
  • 8/21 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 8/28 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 9/4 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 9/11 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 9/18 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 9/25 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 10/1 – 2 Squares – Colors as Directed
  • 10/ 9 – 1 Square – Colors as Directed and Join
  • 10/16 – Border

I designed the Festival of Fall Square originally in 2016 for a Designer Project for the Moogly 2016 Sample Afghan. I decided it would be beautiful to make 15 Squares of this design and make our own lovely afghan! Since the design is a few years old, the particular yarn I used is discontinued in some of the colors… So I decided to go with Red Heart Yarn this time around and below you will see what my color choices are… They are very similar to the original colors made with Lion Brand Yarn pictured below.

Estimated Size:

Yarn and tension may vary and make your personal project slightly different. I am making this project along with you so the completed project size and yardage are only an estimate.

43″ x 68″ Blocked

Supplies:

Yarn:

Red Heart ~ I recommed 5 colors, but minimum of 2 to show off the textural stitching. I used both With Love (370 yds ea) and Super Saver (364 Yds ea)colors to get the color scheme I wanted:

  • A~ With Love in Boysenberry (2 skeins)
  • B~ Super Saver in Gold (3 skeins)
  • C~ Super Saver in Dark Orchid (3 skeins)
  • D~ Super Saver in Carrot (2 skeins)
  • E~ With Love in Spinach (2 skeins)

Hook:

I Hook

Grab your yarn and hooks and meet me back here next Saturday to start the afghan… If you would like to review the pattern, Click Here for the link!
