Easy Fall Blanket… Free Crochet Pattern

Simple stitching, random strip pattern and beautiful tweed yarn bring this Easy Fall Blanket pattern all together… Sit and watch your favorite show or take this as your car ride project… So easy!

Recently, I was out at the Mall of America in Minneapolis, Minnasota with my good friends Kathy from ELK Studio Handcrafted Crochet Designs and Jennifer from A Crocheted Simplicity … We had a blast shopping, eating and having cocktails.. and of course we crocheted… But, we stopped by the brand new store in the mall…Crochet! and wow, we had a blast!

I found this beautiful wool blend yarn and fell in love.. I knew right away, A Easy Fall Blanket was going to be on my hook… I put the link for this yarn in the material list if you would like to use the same yarn.. or you can pick any worsted weight yarn you love!

If you have a chance to head to The Mall of America, make sure to stop by Crochet!  Lots of great yarn and all price points are available… But you can also order online… so no worries!

Materials

Yarn ~ 3 skeins of Lola Yarn by Master Knit, 874 yards each. Worsted Weight.

Color A  #886 Tan     Color B #128 Orange     Color C #890 Brown

Hook ~ J

Stitches

St – Stitch

Ch – Chain

Sk – Skip

Sc – Single Crochet

Foundation Sc – Foundation Single Crochet(this makes a nicer begining)

Trc – Treble Crochet

Exsc – Extended Single Crochet (insert hook in stitch, Yo and pull up loop, Yo and pull through the FIRST LOOP ONLY on the hook, Yo and pull through the last 2 loops on the hook.)

X St – X Stitch (sk st, trc in next st, trc in previously sk st)

Rev Sc – Reverse Single Crochet

If you are ready to start a fun, quick Crochet Along… Join me in making this Sugar Wheel Baby Blanket!!  In week 1 we will be making the first 9 rows of the blanket… Super quick, Super easy!!!  The original Sugar Wheel Baby Blanket was made using Premier Yarns Sweet Roll in Cream Pop… This time I am using Yarnspirations Bernat Pop in Paisley Pop…

I love using Self Striping Yarn, it makes beautiful projects with easy color work done all by the yarn!!

I will also be making my blanket a bit larger than the original.  During week 3 of the CAL I will talk about how to make this fun blanket bigger and for those of you who want to make a larger blanket,,, I will do a Week 4 of this CAL!  But you can stop at week 3 to make it baby size!!

Week 1~

Size ~

36″ Circular Blanket

Gauge ~

12 Stitches x 6 Rows of Double Crochet

Stitches ~

Ch ~ Chain     Sp ~ Space     St ~ Stitch     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Dc ~ Double Crochet     Picot ~ Sc in designated st or sp, ch 3, sl st in base of sc.

Instructions:

Begin with a Magic Circle

*You will be working in the round and not turning after each round*

Round 1:  Ch 4(counts as dc + ch 1 now and throughout),*dc, ch1 in circle*, repeat *to* 10 more times. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch 4. = 12 dc & ch1’s

Round 2:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), dc in same st, *ch 1, sk next ch 1 sp, 2 dc in next st*, repeat *to* 10 more times, ch 1, sk next ch 1 sp, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 24 dc & 12 ch1 sps.

Round 3:  Ch 3, dc in next st, ch 2, sk next ch 1 sp, *dc in next 2 sts, ch 2, sk next ch 1 sp*, repeat *to* 10 more times, ch 2, sk next ch 1 sp, join to top of beginning ch 3. = 24 dc & 12 ch2 spcs

Round 4:  Ch 3, dc in-between the 2 dc’s from the previous row(this will make and increase), dc in next st, ch 2, *dc in next st, dc in-between the 2 dc from previous round, dc in next st, ch 2*, repeat *to* 10 more times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =36 dc & 12 ch2 sps

Round 5:  Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, ch 3, sk next ch 2 sp, *dc in next 3 sts, ch 3, sk next ch 2 sp*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =36 dc & 12 ch3 sps

Round 6: Ch 3, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, *(ch 1, picot, ch 1) around next ch 3 sp, *dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next st, (ch 1, picot, ch 1) around next ch 3 sp*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 48 dc * 12 (ch1,picot,ch1)

Round 7:  Ch 3, dc in next st, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc  in the next 2 sts, ch 3, *dc in next 2 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 2 sts, ch 3*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 60 dc & 12 ch 3 sps

Round 8:  Ch 3, dc in next st, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, (ch1,picot,ch1) around next ch 3, * dc in next 2 sts, 2 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, (ch1,picot,ch1) around next ch 3 sp*, repeat *to* around , join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 72 dc & 12 (ch1,picot,ch1)

Round 9:  Ch 3, dc in next 2 sts, dc in-between  the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 3 sts, ch 5, *dc in next 3 sts, dc in-between the 2 dc’s in the previous round, dc in next 3 sts, ch 5*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =84 dc & 12 ch5 sps
