Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 CAL… Week 8!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 CAL… Week 8!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 CAL… Week 8!!

Week 8 of our mystery afghan!!  I can’t believe by the end of this week we will all be 75% done with our project… Each week I am loving it more and more!!  Playing with new stitching techniques and watching it grow…

What do you think??  I hope you are all joining me on our CAL Group on Facebook… If you haven’t joined yet,,, Click Here!  You can be a member just to watch our projects grow… This group will be open for upcoming CAL project all year-long!!

This week is a two-row repeat… super easy once you see how to wrap your double crochet’s into a nice bundle… I have a upclose picture to show you what it looks like, plus a written explanation…  Are you ready to get started??

Let’s make week 8!!!

*Special Stitching Wrapped 3dc shells… You will make 3 dc in a chain space, next you will YO and insert your hook around the middle of all 3 previous dc stitch.  YO draw through to loops, YO and draw through last 2 loops…  So, to break it down… you are doing a dc around the middle of the 3 dc stitches. It sound harder than it is… Trust me!  Just make sure to make your dc fairly loose around the stitches.. Other than that… Here is how they will look!

Alright… Let’s get the party started!!

Join Color A with sl st to top right corner st of afghan.

Round 66: Ch 1, sc in same st, {sc in next st, *ch 3, sk 3 sts, sc in next st*, repeat *to* 28 more times, 3 sc in next st, sc in next st, repeat *to* 40 times, 3 sc in next st }, repeat {to} 1 time, 2 sc in last corner st(same as beginning sc), join with sl st to beginning sc. =128 ch3 sps, 154 sc

Round 67:  Ch 3, turn, 2 dc in same st, {dc in next 2 sts, *3 dc in ch 3 sp, dc around the middle of 3 previous dc (wrapped 3dc shell), dc in next sc*, repeat *to* 39 more times, dc in next st, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 2 sts, repeat *to* 29 times, dc in next 2 sts, 3 dc in next st}, repeat {to} 1 time. Join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. = 138 wrapped 3dc shell, 163 dc

Change to Color B, join with sl st in top right corner st, Turn

Round 68:  Ch 1, 3 sc in same st, {sc in next 3 sts, *ch 3, sk wrapped 3dc shell, sc in next st*, repeat *to* 28 more times, sc in next 2 sts, 3 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts, repeat *to* 40 times, sc in next 2 sts}, 3 sc in next st, repeat {to} 1 time. Join with sl st to beginning sc. =138 wrapped 3dc shells, 170 sc.

Round 69:  Ch 3, turn, dc in next 3 sts, {*3 dc in next ch 3 sp, make a wrapped dc shell, dc in next sc*, repeat *to* 28 more times, dc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts, repeat *to* 40 times, dc in next 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, dc in next 4 sts}, repeat {to} 1 time ending with the 3dc in the last corner. =138 wrapped 3dc shells, 178 dc.

That’s it,,, Easy-Peasy!!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 CAL… Week 7!!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 CAL… Week 7!!

Crochet with Me! Winter 2017 CAL

Welcome to week 7, you have passed over the halfway mark… I think after this week you will really feel like this is an afghan and not just a project…  It was a long week for me.. Work was busy,,, lots of extra things to do… So, this weeks rounds are pretty quick.  I hope you love the texture of them!!

Super simple stitching… The combination of sc and trc makes a nice easy texture… Just watch your stitch count and placement of the slight bobbles that are created when you do the stitching…

We are starting with row 59, this is due to the fact that when we left off in week 5 the last row was 58…

Once again, a little change for the right side… both rows 59 & 60 will be the right side… this is setting you up to return to rounds…

Join color D to the top right in the 1st dc st.

Row 59:  Ch 3, dc in each dc and sc, and 2 dc in each ch sp across. =108 dc Finish off

Row 60:  Repeat row 59 on the bottom side, do not finish off

*Tip*  The trc will make a slight bump and will go to the Right Side of your project.

Round 61:  Ch 1, turn, sc in 1st st, *trc in next st, sc in next st*, repeat *to* 53 times, trc in next st, 3 sc in 1st st of side row, repeat *to* 76 times, 2 sc in the same st (corner 3 sc all together), repeat *to* 53 times, 3 sc in next st of side row, repeat *to* 76 times, 1 more sc in same st(makes corner), join with sl st to beginning sc. = 260 trc & 268 sc. Finish off, turn.

Join color E in the middle top right corner st at the top of the afghan.

Round 62:  Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in next 108 sts, 3 sc in next corner st, sc in next 154 sts, 2 sc in next corner st, sc in next 108 sts, 3 sc in next corner st, sc in next 154 sts, 2 sc in same st as beginning sc. join with sl st to beginning sc. = 536 sc  Turn

*Tip* For round 63 the slight bumps created by your trc should be offset to each side of the previous bumps in round 61.

Round 63:  Sl st in middle st of corner, ch 1, {3 sc in st, *sc in next st, trc in next st*, repeat *to* 77 times, sc in next st, 3 sc in next st, repeat *to* 55 times, sc in next st}, repeat {to} 1 more time, join to beginning sc. = 544 sts Finish off, Turn

Join color F in the top right corner st

Round 64: Ch 1, *3 sc in  corner, sc across*, repeat *to* 3 more times, join to beginning sc with sl st. = 552 sts

Round 65: Ch 1, turn, *sc across to corner, 3 sc in corner st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. =560 sts… Top and bottom are 115 sts, sides are 159 sts… 4 corners with 3sts each

That’s it,, Hopefully it goes smoothly for all of you!!

I think this may still be my favorite year so far of the winter CAL’s!!
