Now for some of the Week 6 details:

This year the project is worked in strips that are in rounds then attached(Mile A Minute). It is a Rectangular Afghan approx. 70″ x 60″ . You can make it in your choice of worsted weight yarn #4. Stashbuster, Ombre’, Self- Striping or even a color theme… At least 2 colors are recommended. For sneak peaks, join me on Instagram.. I sometimes show off early pics!

Each week I will have at least 1 round with a fun new stitch, This is great for learning new stitches and making your afghan whimsical… The main base is a Granny Stitch… So easy!

Now for some of the Week 1 details:

This year the project is worked in the round, turning over each round. It is a Square Afghan approx. 65″ x 65″ . You can make it in your choice of worsted weight yarn #4. Stashbuster, Ombre’, Self- Striping or even a color theme… At least 2 colors are recommended. I am making 3, Caron Cake Self- Striping, Red Heart Ombre… and a Stashbuster…

Let’s get the stitching started!

Tips:

If using self striping yarn, it will change sometimes in the middle of the row… This is ok

If changing colors,(not using self striping or ombre’) The instructions don’t say to when to change color due to the use of self-striping/ombre being used, but you will change every row and join in the space you joined in unless otherwise stated.

Work your ends in with a yarn needle as you go…This makes it much easier in the end…

Odd rows are the right side(RS) and Even rows are the wrong side(WS)

If there is a word or area that has a strikethrough(line through it), that is a correction and the part with the strikethrough is not valid, the part following it is the correct version.

Week 1 size 26″ x26″… Different yarns and tensions may make your slightly different.. Don’t let it be to much of a variance or your project will be way to big or way to small

  • Sl St – Slip Stitch
  • Sc – Single Crochet
  • Picot ~ Sc in st, ch 3, sl st in base of sc just made

Instructions:

*This week we will be once again working on side edging using one of my favorite stitches… Moss Stitch and the Picot stitch… Super easy and quick! We will be finishing both edges

We will be starting with working around the end of edging rows… I have some pics to follow to help with placement.

With Right side facing, join color F with a sl st in the last stitch of color F picot row(see pic below) where the Picot is closest to the edge.

Row 156: Ch 1, working in the end of border rows, work 1 sc in each color F, A, B, C & D(5sc total), in last color end of row(color E) work 3 picot sts and 1 more sc in same st(this finishes the corner), *sc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1, sk st*, repeat *to* across to the last st, (sc, 3 picot sts) in the last st, turn to work on the end of row border, 1 sc in each of the next 5 colors D, C, B, A, F, sl st in the next st and finish off. = 2- 3picot groups, 121 sc & 104 ch 1 sps.

Turn to work on the opposite boarder with right side facing.

Join Color F in the side row edge in color F(see pic)

Row 157: Repeat row 156 ending with a sl st in the base of the last picot from the row, similar to how you joined in row 156.

Just block the project into shape and you are all set!!!

Below are pics of the 2 different final corners.
