Thick & Quick Round Bumpy Scrubby

If you loved the original Thick & Quick Bumpy Scrubby, you will love it in the ROUND too!!!  Just as easy and quick to make, this free crochet pattern makes a great gift and kitchen accessory.  You can also use this in the bath with your favorite bar of soap…  Made using 2 strands of cotton yarn, it is thick and plush.  You can also try holding 1 strand of cotton yarn and one strand of acrylic or wool to make a different texture!

Materials:

Cotton Yarn~ 2 colors, approx. 100 yards of each. I used Lily’s Cream and Sugar

Hook~ I

Scissors

 

Size:  

7″ Diameter

 

Stitches:

Sc ~ Single Crochet

Ch ~ Chain

Trc ~ Triple Crochet

St ~ Stitch

Sl St ~ Slip Stich

Instructions:

Holding 2 strands of yarn together…

Row 1:  6 sc in magic circle, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 6 sc

Row 2:  Ch 1, turn, (sc, trc) in each st around, join with sl st to beginning sc. – 6 sc & 6 trc

Row 3:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2 sc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 18sc

Row 4:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, trc in next st, (sc, trc) in next st, *sc in next st, trc in next st, (sc, trc) in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 12 sc & 12 trc

Row 5:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 30 sc

Row 6:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, trc in next st, sc in next st, trc in next st, (sc,trc) in next st, *sc in next st, trc in next st, sc in next st, trc in next st, (sc, trc) in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 18 sc & 18 trc

Row 7:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st)*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 42 sc

Row 8:  Ch 1, turn, sc in st, sc in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next st, *sc in next 6 sts, 2 sc in next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 48 sc

That’s it.. You now have a Thick & Quick Round Bumpy Scrubby!!!

Wasn’t that fun??? This is another 30 minute or less project.. Great way to come up with a last-minute gift… Pair it with a bottle of your favorite dish soap or bar of luxury soap for a great gift set!!

One of the many things I love is to add crochet to is my wardrobe… Have you ever had a long sleeve shirt that is just slightly to short in the arms…  These Steel Ridge Wristlet’s add style, beauty and a touch of creativeness, along with a fix for the sleeve problem!!
Recently I designed the Steel Ridge Beanie, and immediately I saw the shell pattern draping on my wrists…  This fun, whimsical styled pattern is a quick project that you can whip up with your stash of yarn…  Wear these Steel Ridge Wristlet’s with the Steel Ridge Beanie for a great fashion look!!

Materials:

Yarn:  Approximately 200 yards worsted weight yarn ~ 2 Colors of Lion Brand Yarn Heartland Worsted Weight Yarn. Shown here in Great Smokey Mountains and Glacier Bay

Hook: J

Scissors and yarn needle

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch      Ch ~ Chain      Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Hdc ~ Half Double Crochet      Dc ~ Double Crochet      FP ~ Front Post      BP ~ Back Post

Tips:

*You will be working in the round

*Use even, slightly loose tension

*Using a darker color and a lighter color will show off the pattern

*It is easiest to carry your yarn up each round as you change color


Instructions:  Make 2

Color A ~ Great Smokey Mountain   Color B ~ Glacier Bay

Using Color A Chain 25

Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each across. Join to beginning being careful not to twist your work. = 24sc

Round 2:  Ch 2(counts as hdc now and throughout), hdc in each st around, join with sl st around top of beginning ch 2. = 24 hdc

Round 3-10:  Ch 2, Bphdc around next st, *Fphdc around next st, Bphdc around next st*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st around beginning ch 2. = 12 Bphdc & 12 Fphdc

Round 11:  Ch 1, sc in same st, sk st, 5dc(shell) in next st, sk st, * sc in next st,  sk st, 5dc shell in next st, sk st*, repeat *to* around, join to beginning sc. = 6 5dc shells & 6 sc

Change to Color B

Round 12:  Join yarn in same st as ending round 11, ch 1, sc in same st, *ch 6, sk 5dc shell, sc in next sc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 6 –  ch6 & 6 sc

Change to Color A

Round 13:  Ch 3(counts as dc now and throughout), 4 dc in same st, *sc around ch6 into 3rd dc of previous 5dc shell(see photo at bottom), 5 dc in next sc*, repeat *to* around. sc around last ch 6 into 3rd dc of previous 5dc shell, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 2. = 6 5dc shells & 6 sc

Rounds 14-19: repeat rounds 12 & 13.

Finish off Color A

Change to Color B

Join yarn in the sc you finished color A off in.  Ch 1, sl st in same st, *(sc,ch2,sc) in next 5 dc sts, sl st in next sc*, repeat *to* around, join with sl st to the beginning sl st. = 30 (sc,ch2,sc) & 6 sl sts

Finish off and weave in ends.
