Winter Walk Headband is a simple and quick pattern that works up nicely!!  An easy ribbed edging and slightly textural midsection set off the design… You can memorize this pattern in no time at all and make several up  for gifts, sales or charity!!  As usual, I love working with self-striping yarn and I think using Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable yarn shows off the beauty of this pattern perfectly!!  No changing colors, simple-reptitive stitching and best of all… a free pattern!!

Materials:

Yarn~ 100 yards of worsted weight yarn ~ I suggest using Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable!!  Photos have one each in Cappuccino, Sunrise and Tidal

Hook~ H

Stitches:

St ~ Stitch     Sl St ~ Slip Stitch     Sk ~ Skip     Ch ~ Chain     Sc ~ Single Crochet     Dc ~ Double Crochet     Fpdc ~ Front Post Double Crochet     Bpdc ~ Back Post Double Crochet

*Tips ~

You will only be turning for rounds 5-12

By joining around the ch 3 sts instead of in the top of the st for the ribbing, you will keep the first st of each ribbing round looking like a fpdc.

Size:

19″ around ~ This will stretch up to approx. 23″

Instructions:

Ch 66, When starting leave a long tail(3-4″) to join the bottom edge round.

*You will work the first Round across, then join.  This technique makes it easier not to get your project twisted. You just join the bottom together with the tail.

Round 1:  Dc in the 4th ch from hook and each ch across. = 64 dc Join carefully not to twist project

Round 2 & 3:  Ch 3(Counts as dc now and throughout), *bpdc around next st, fpdc around next st*, repeat * to * around. Join with sl st around the top of the beginning ch 3. = 32 bpdc, 32 fpdc

Round 4:  Ch 1, (sc,dc) in the first st, sk st, *(sc,dc) in the next st, sk st*, repeat * to * around. Join with sl st around the beginning sc. = 32 (sc,dc)

Round 5:  Ch 1, turn, (sc,dc) in 1st st, sk st, *(sc,dc) in next st(this should land in sc sts from previous round), sk st*, repeat * to * around. Join with sl st to beginning sc. = 32 (sc,dc)

Rounds 6 – 12: Repeat round 5

Round 13:  Ch 3, dc in each st around. Join with sl st around the top of ch 3, = 64 dc

Round 14 – 15: Repeat rounds 2 & 3.

Finish off.

Using the long tail of beginning ch, sew the bottom edge of the headband together.

*To make this headband smaller or larger… it is in 2 st increments*

Congratulations!!!  You now have a Winter Walk Headband… You can experiment with different yarns to see what effects you get, but keep in mind that it may change the look and sizing of the project…

Happy Crocheting!!
