Summertime Striped Shawl~Free Crochet Pattern!

Summertime Striped Shawl

Summertime Striped Shawl~Free Crochet Pattern! This is an easy and quick crochet pattern that uses 2 cakes of self-striping yarn. Wear it as a shawl or fold it to use as a scarf.

Perfect for cool Summer evenings or a great way to brighten up any outfit!

And what is especially great, it is a 2 stitch project. Just Single Crochet Stitches and Treble Crochet Stitches!

Materials:

Yarn:

814 Yards of Worsted Weight Yarn ~ Recommend using Self-Striping Yarn or Solid one color. I used Caron Cinnamon Swirl Yarn in the Color Lollypop. Instructions:

Summertime Striped Shawl as Shawl

Let’s get started!

Tip: The first and last stitches can be hard to see especially when increasing or decreasing at the beginning and end of the row. Place stitch markers to help and occasionally make sure to do stitch counts

Increase Section

Start with a ch 2

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. = 1 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in st. =3 sc

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st.=5 sc

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 5 sc

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 7 sc

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 7 sc

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc across to last st, 2 sc in last st. = 9 sc

Row 8-59: Repeat rows 6 & 7 (increase rows pattern) By row 59 you will have 61 sc *hint* for the decrease section, every odd row you will have a st count of the row number + 2 sts(like row 7 has 9 sts). You should do a st count every few rows

Now you will start the base of the shawl

Row 60: Ch 5(counts as trc + ch 1), turn, *sk next st, trc in next st, ch 1*, repeat *to* across ending with a trc in last st. = 30 ch 1 & 31 trc

Row 61: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st and ch sp across ending with a sc in the 4th ch of the beginning ch 5 of the previous row. = 61 sc

Rows 62- 72: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 61 sc

Rows 73-170: Repeat rows 60 – 73 (6 times)

Row 171: Repeat row 60

Decrease section

Row 172: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 61 sc

Row 173: Ch 1, turn, dec sc, sc in next 57 sts, dec sc over last 2 sts. = 59 sc

Rows 174-234: Repeat rows 172 & 173 until you have 1 sc left

Finish off

With the left over yarn make 2 tassels or pom poms and attach 1 to each end of the shawl.

Life of a Crochet Addict… Week2!

Life of a Crochet Addict… Week2!

Hey Crochet Friends!!! I hope you week was fantastic and filled with tons of fun last days of Summer things!

I had a great week spending time with friends, lake time with my bestie Mr. B and kicking back at home with miss Ziggy and of course… Crocheting!

Also, I can’t wait to share some of the pics I took and my upcoming Crochet projects! I hope you are enjoying this new weekly adventure as I share my life, crocheting, homemaking and gardening with you!

Make sure you get all of my posts sent directly to your email…

This weekly post and all of my new crochet patterns… I will be including some of my favorite recipes too! Just find the “Stay Connected” box in the righthand sidebar to receive posts by email

Here is how my week played out… Don’t miss the pictures at the bottom of upcoming patterns!

Firstly, I was really excited because Mr. B(one of my all time besties) invited me down to do some lake time for a few days and one of his life long friends was coming up to… In addition, our good friends S & J came up to his house to do lake days too… We had a blast… so much that I forgot to to get pics… But, I did get some of a lake day just Mr. B and I had… wait until you see the ducks!

We enjoyed the lake so much, spent the whole day just relaxing… and then…..

These two beautiful ducks joined us… but that’s not all they did…

They joined me on the back boat deck…. and….

Ducks

Mr. B decided to come check them out too… But the funniest part comes next in the video below…

Both of us were laughing so hard!!!!

sunset

Of course stayed as long as we could… Eating our snacks, having a couple drinks and lastly enjoying the sunset!

One of the evenings I was there Mr. B and I went out to dinner and drinks with our friends S & J… Love them to pieces… Hope to see them again soon!

Mr. B lives just about an hour down the canyon from me… My little town Mt. Shasta is sweet and quaint, but I do most of my shopping down the canyon… One of the days that is exactly how we spent our day, Shopping… Fun!

I headed back up the hill on Tuesday morning because I had plans for lunch with my good friend Ms R.. Always love spending time with her!

This is a pic of Mt Shasta coming up the canyon on Tuesday… about 15 miles from home!

Mt Shasta

Here she is, Mt Shasta… Cloudy Summer Evening!

Once I arrived back home, I had to tend to the garden and house… and of course get crocheting! My garden produces way more than I can eat, so I do share… but also freeze dry a lot of it for future use! And Miss Ziggy was very happy I was home!

This week, I am headed back to Mr. B’s today for a couple more lake days and fun with him! When I get home my two girls will be coming to visit….
