Let’s get started!

Materials~

Yarn – All worsted weight, exact brands do not matter.

2500+ yards of your base color, any solid color will do. I am using my white scraps as my base color.

2500+ yards of various colors

Hook – P

Scissors

Tips~

You will be holding 3 strands together, one of your base color(white in my case) and 2 other colors

You will change one of the colors after each row, leaving the 2nd color for one more row. After changing the first color, you will change the second color on the next row. You will keep rotating colors out. Each color will stay in the pattern for 2 rows. You can add them back in at any point. Always leave your base color in the pattern.

There is no color rules, we will be changing colors often, but if you prefer to make less color changes there is no problem!

You are welcome to make the Scrapghan larger or smaller, this is done by adding or subtracting in increments of 2 chains and more or less rows.

This afghan can be made smaller and lighter by using 2 strands and going down to an N hook.

I work my ends in as I go.. at the end of the row when you change colors, weave the loose ends in and then crochet over them as you start the next row… this will secure them nicely and avoid the dread of doing it at the end!

Size~

60″ x 80″

Stitches~

St – Stitch

Ch – Chain

Sp – Space

Sk – Skip

Sc – Single Crochet

Dc – Double Crochet

Trc – Treble Crochet

V- St ~ V Stitch: 2 dc in sp or st indicated

Instructions~

Holding your base color and 2 other colors together, chain 86 with an even medium tension.

Row 1:  Sc in the second chain from hook and each across. =85 sc

Row 2:  Chain 3(counts as dc now and throughout), turn, *sk st, V st in next st*, repeat *to* across to last st, sk st,  dc in last st. = 41 V sts and  2 dc

Row 3: Change 1 color out, Chain 3, turn, *sk st, V st in center of previous rows V st*, repeat *to* across to end, dc in last st. = 41 Vsts and 2 dc.

Rows 4-11:  Continue to repeat row 3, changing one color per row, rotating the colors out after 2 rows.
