Custom Decorating with Crochet… The easy way to choose yarn colors!!

Now that the 2017 Crochet with Me – Crochet Along is done… I thought I would give you a tip on how I chose my colors!! It is fun and an easy way to get inspiration for your crochet projects for your home!

As I was preparing to move into my new home recently, I was out shopping each payday for things to fill my home! I found so many things that had bright and cheery colors. I decided this year~ I would design the Mystery Afghan to add to my new decor! This is the best when decorating your bachelor pad as it is a simple solution. Below you will see a stylish ottoman/stool in fun colors and a whimsical pattern. The day I bought this, I decided to match up my yarn colors to this accessory.

Off I went with ottoman in hand to buy my yarn… It was so easy! In just a few minutes I matched the 6 colors needed for this years afghan and I was out the door, almost to0 easy! This years afghan is in the bottom of the pile… but all 3 end up matching the ottoman! I must like bright colors… LOL!

So next time you are having a hard time choosing your colors for a project… Grab something that will be with the finished project and take it with you to buy yarn! Or if it’s to big… take a few pictures…

Let the style of paid designers do the work for you! You will start noticing trends… Home decor designers and yarn companies tend to be on the same track…

Here we are… The last week before making the edging and blocking or project into the final piece!! I am so excited to see the finish line… It has been so much fun, and I have love the journey!

This week is an easy stitch technique! It has been included in many of my patterns! I hope you love it too!

Let’s do this thing!

Turn, Join Color A with sl st to the top right corner ch sp.

Round 76: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, *sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, dc 2 sts back(in 1st sk st)-X st made*, repeat *to* 55 more times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 75 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 56 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 75 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =262 X sts & 4 (3dc, ch 1, 3dc)

Turn, Join Color B with sl to the top right corner ch sp.

Round 77: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, *sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, dc 2 sts back(in 1st sk st)-X st made*, repeat *to* 57 more times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 77 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 58 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 77 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =270 X sts & 4 (3dc, ch 1, 3dc)

Turn, Join Color C with sl st to top right corner ch sp.

Round 78: Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc in same sp, *sk 2 sts, dc in next st, ch 1, dc 2 sts back(in 1st sk st)-X st made*, repeat *to* 59 more times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 79 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 60 times, (3dc, ch 1, 3dc) in next ch 1 corner sp, repeat *to* 79 times, join with sl st to top of beginning ch 3. =278 X sts & 4 (3dc, ch 1, 3dc)

That’s it… You are now done with the base of your afghan…!

Next week, we will be making the border, weaving in the ends and blocking our project… Wow.. Almost done!

Crochet with Me!! Winter 2017 Mystery Afghan CAL… Week 9

Week 9, I can’t believe we are 3/4 of the way done this week!! My afghan seems to be getting heavy and like a real blanket! This week is a very easy 3 row section of chains and single crochets… Make sure to share your photos on my Beatrice Ryan Designs Facebook Page and in our Beatrice Ryan Designs CAL Group… I am starting to see so many fun color combos!!

Let’s get this week started!!

With Color C, Join with sl st in top right corner st.

Round 70: Ch 1, 3 sc in same st, *sc in next 154 sts, 3 sc in next corner st, sc in next 209 sts*, 3 sc in next corner st, repeat * 1 time, join with sl st to beginning sc.=738 sc

Round 71: Sl st in next st(center st), ch 1, turn, sc in same st, *ch 3, sk st, sc in next st*, Rep *to* 105 more times, (ch3, sc) in same st, rep *to* 77 times, ch 3, sk 2 sts, (sc, ch3, sc) in next st, repeat *to* 106 times, (ch 3, sc) in same st, repeat *to* 77 times, sk 2 sts, ch 3, sc in next st, ch 3, join with sl st to beginning sc. = 372 ch 3 sps

Round 72: Turn, sl st in same corner ch3 sp, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc) in same sp, *ch 3, sc in next ch 3 sp*, rep *to* 77 more times, ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next ch 3 sp, repeat *to* 107 times, (ch 3, sc) in same ch 3 sp, repeat *to* 78 times, ch 3, (sc, ch 3, sc) in ch 3 sp, repeat *to* 106 times, ch 3, join with sl st to beginning sc. =376 ch 3 sps.

Finish off.

This may seem a little “Ruffley”,,, that is ok… When we move to next week it will make this a mesh section.
