Perfect for cool Summer evenings or a great way to brighten up any outfit!

And what is especially great, it is a 2 stitch project. Just Single Crochet Stitches and Treble Crochet Stitches!

Instructions:

Summertime Striped Shawl as Shawl

Let’s get started!

Tip: The first and last stitches can be hard to see especially when increasing or decreasing at the beginning and end of the row. Place stitch markers to help and occasionally make sure to do stitch counts

Increase Section

Start with a ch 2

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook. = 1 sc

Row 2: Ch 1, turn, 3 sc in st. =3 sc

Row 3: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st.=5 sc

Row 4: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 5 sc

Row 5: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st. = 7 sc

Row 6: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 7 sc

Row 7: Ch 1, turn, 2 sc in 1st st, sc across to last st, 2 sc in last st. = 9 sc

Row 8-59: Repeat rows 6 & 7 (increase rows pattern) By row 59 you will have 61 sc *hint* for the decrease section, every odd row you will have a st count of the row number + 2 sts(like row 7 has 9 sts). You should do a st count every few rows

Now you will start the base of the shawl

Row 60: Ch 5(counts as trc + ch 1), turn, *sk next st, trc in next st, ch 1*, repeat *to* across ending with a trc in last st. = 30 ch 1 & 31 trc

Row 61: Ch 1, turn, sc in each st and ch sp across ending with a sc in the 4th ch of the beginning ch 5 of the previous row. = 61 sc

Rows 62- 72: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 61 sc

Rows 73-170: Repeat rows 60 – 73 (6 times)

Row 171: Repeat row 60

Decrease section

Row 172: Ch 1, turn, sc across. = 61 sc

Row 173: Ch 1, turn, dec sc, sc in next 57 sts, dec sc over last 2 sts. = 59 sc

Rows 174-234: Repeat rows 172 & 173 until you have 1 sc left

Finish off

With the left over yarn make 2 tassels or pom poms and attach 1 to each end of the shawl.

Summertime Striped Shawl Folded into scarf

That’s it, you now have a Summertime Striped Shawl!!!
